Review

Stephen King, the undisputed master of horror, is best known for his fear-inducing and anxiety-filled novels, and the screenwriters who adapted IT for this end-of-summer blockbuster, have done him justice. They’ve taken a classic horror book and blended in jump scares, creepiness and downright terror.

IT focuses on a clown named Pennywise (Bill Skarsgaard) who must terrify and kill kids to stay alive. The movie starts when a little boy goes missing. His older brother Bill (Jaeden Lieberher) and Bill’s friends try to solve the mystery.

Slowly Pennywise mentally tortures the kids with their own nightmares and fears. One by one they face death. Knowing they cannot defeat the evil clown alone, they band together to overcome their worst nightmares and rid their town of this evil predator.

Compared to the 1990 original movie, starring Tim Curry, this one is a million times better. Not only is it gorier, but it doesn’t have the limitations of being a direct-to-tv movie, so the graphic scenes leave nothing to the imagination.

I would definitely recommend this movie even for people who don’t like scary movies, because it is really well written, and the cast is amazing.

Besides, if you get scared, you can close your eyes or turtle into your shirt (like me).
