Custodian Gemar Dimalao made a new friend on campus Thursday. While clearing bushes near the cafeteria, “Little Grass,” as Dimalao dubbed him, said hello. The sociable praying mantis has been cruising around on Dimalao’s head and arms all day.

Dimalao isn’t surprised and said that since he started working at Kalani eight months ago, he has found the campus culture to be warm and inviting.

“I like the people here. They are all friendly and respectful,” he said.
