The Local 5 Union has opened their “strike center” as of Sept. 26 according to union members. Local 5 members took a tour of the two-story building after their Wednesday, Oct. 3 meeting. Sunday, Oct. 14 marked Day 7 of the strike.

After getting a 95 percent YES vote to strike against Marriott, the union has been preparing their members for a strike. This includes renting out the strike center for people to walk to during their shifts on strike and rest.

The strike center is equipped with extra picket signs, pins, and a kitchen to make food. It is still unclear when the strike will occur but Local 5 members say they will strike when the time comes. Photo by Abby Bustamante 2018.
