Dozens of students make plans to eat together at Kalani High School. On Thursday, Oct. 7, Kalani students socialize with little care for social distancing. Only a few weeks ago, students were heavily mandated to eat six feet apart, all while facing the same direction. “I see less and less faculty trying to enforce social distancing,” Enzo Yamagata (12) says. The number of COVID-19 cases dropped from a high of 876 cases on Sept. 1 to 267 cases on October 1, according to the Hawai’i Department of Health. Photo and caption by Reyn Machida.
