As we reach the end of the first quarter, freshmen are assembling their chapbooks at Kalani High School! An electronic road sign spreads the message of Covid-19, cautioning “No large gatherings” at the intersection of Kalakaua and Monsarrat Avenues. The sign reminds people not to have large gatherings. It alternates through three other messages: “Stop the spread,” “Do your part,” and “Violators will be cited.” During the Covid-19 pandemic, social gatherings on Oahu have been limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. According to KHON 2, Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi extended the suspension of large gatherings. The suspension started on Sept. 22, but Blangiardi extended it until Oct. 19. To stay safe, and prevent the risk of case spikes, remember to avoid large gatherings. Photo by Eleni Cheng 2021.

Bailey Kwon (11): “A pro for me would be the accessibility. You don’t have to worry so much supplies-wise like packing a bag, packing a bag for school. A con is a lot of teachers doubled the work since were home all the time so you’re hardly ever able to take a break for yourself. Youre always doing school 24/7.”
