Soft Tennis
September 1, 2015
Interested in sports? The soft tennis team is always looking for new members. Soft tennis was originally invented in Japan that had made its way to other countries.
Mr. Trevor Teraoka, the 10th and 12th grade counselor, has always told his students to try something new and to get out of their comfort zone. He did exactly that. He took the role of the soft tennis coach and he is happy, that he made this decision. Mr. Teraoka has little experience with soft tennis, but has taught himself about the game. He challenged himself to try something new and is working to balance work with soft tennis coaching.
A 12th grade student Jade Enomoto who is on the team said that being a part of the team motivates her to try harder in school, “the team is like a second family to me.” Jade mentioned it is fun yet also hard work with warm ups. Soft tennis is a mental and physical game made up of 5 sets and is exciting to play. This sport is highly recommended by Jade and Mr. Teraoka if you want to challenge yourself or if just want to try it out.
Editor’s Note: This interview and article was written in August. The Soft Tennis season is almost halfway over. Please see Mr. Teraoka if you are interested in trying out for next year’s team.
