The Plague of Vertical Video

November 25, 2015

There is a wide spread plague infecting the internet that has become out of hand. This plague of vertical video is polluting the internet with unwatchable content. The rising amount of vertical video is astounding and is significantly reducing the quality of videos on the internet.  Many social media providers avoid this problem by limiting videos into squares, but they are just avoiding the real problem. Vertical videos are a major annoyance to the watcher because it wastes an astounding amount of space on computer monitors where the popular video is watched.  Vertical videos can only be watched on phones and is still providing the watcher with an unrealistic point of view because humans do not see in vertical.  Do you see in a vertical formatting? I don’t think so. So why are you filming videos for others to watch in vertical?

People posting vertical video should be considered a crime against humanity, unless it’s for Snapchat because nobody uses Snapchat sideways, that’s just dumb. If you have posted vertical video you should know that it is bad and you should feel bad. You are wasting everyone’s time because there is nothing they can do to make up for the fact that your video is vertical. Real friends don’t let friends film vertical. Only you can stop the disease but it has to start now before we enter the stage of no return. Please continue reading to help make a change today.  The first step you must take to countering this crime against humanity is stopping it in the act.  What should you do if you see someone filming in vertical, you may ask? The first thing you should do is find out what the violator is filming for.  If they are filming for Snapchat, take no action. You can usually tell if a person is filming for Snapchat if the person is filming for less than 10 seconds. There is no point in interrupting someone’s Snapchat video. If you see them filming for more than 10 seconds, you should immediately gain their attention by shouting at them and correct them.  If they do nothing then you must take further action.  Make no hesitations, walk up to the violator and take their phone, delete their video and start recording in landscape. If you really want to, breaking their phones will also prevent vertical videos.  Now you can return their phone to the violator and give them the Luigi death stare and walk away.

Vertical video is a very serious and is spreading like wildfire. Don’t let this happen to the internet. There is no place in the world for a vertical video on the Internet. Don’t let vertical videos be a trend when it shouldn’t exist in the first place. Vertical videos need to stay on your phone. Keep them where they belong and stop filming stupid things and uploading it on the Internet. No one watches it anyway, but don’t add to a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place.
