Kalani’s D building mural was painted for the Class of 2018. Handprints of some students from that class are placed on and around it with a beachs golden sand and blue ocean wave. This mural is a representation of Kalani’s strong sense of community and artistic talent. The detail and shading shows the effort and care of the students. And the handprints left behind display their sense of belonging to this school.

The long hallway on Kalani High School’s campus is usually filled with students clamoring to get to their classes on time. This is one of the main areas of the campus in which students reside; it represents the atmosphere of Kalani, a place where students of many different backgrounds come together to learn and grow.

In Kaimuki, a community art project run by streetARThawaii is painting murals over thirteen traffic signal boxes commonly targeted for graffiti. The colorfully painted boxes appear along Waialae Avenue from 17th Avenue to 8th Avenue and from Koko Head and Harding to 7th and Harding Avenues. Many of the artists involved live in the area.
