The Winter 2017 issue of Ka Leo O Kalani took second place in the 1000-1700 students category in the 2018 Scholastic Newspaper Awards. The American Scholastic Press Association Annual Contest for Scholastic Yearbooks, Magazines & Newspapers recognizes excellence in student journalism and governs all student newspapers from the elementary to the university and graduate school levels.

The Ka Leo winter issue is the school’s first print publication in 10 years.
