Russet Sounthala, Editor
Russet Sounthala is an editor and reporter for Ka leo O kalani. He is a senior in NW 2 at Kalani High School, displaying his passion for art in his politically satire editorial comics. Although this is his second and final year of being in newswriting he managed to place 2nd in the 2024 Hawaii High School Journalism awards for his editorial comic, a satire about state laws against trans youth. Russet is very involved in his community actively going to protests, local shows, volunteer work, and anything he can find that will fill up his time for a good cause. He hopes to shine light on important political issues through his satires and have fun while doing work that could help others!
