The Photography Club, which is run by educational assistant Matthew Kirkpatrick and photography teacher Mrs. Tran-Trimner is officially open for photography enthusiasts every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in E-27.
On Oct. 23, the photography club information meeting was held in E27. The club itself is student-run, with “self-directed and explorative” learning, where students determine what kind of photography techniques they learn about and execute them.
The first meeting was held on Oct. 28 after school, and club members learned about photo composition and created Google Drive folders to hold their photos.
For now, club members use their phone cameras to take photos. However, Kirkpatrick did state during the informational meeting that DSLR cameras are a possibility for the club to use freely.
The club schedule was mapped out to include lessons on camera techniques on Tuesdays, performing and capturing these techniques during club time, and receiving critiques on their favorite pieces on Thursday.
Students who join learn about artistic photography, enter competitions, and expand their grasp of the photography world.
“I want to help you guys build and maintain digital portfolios,” Kirkpatrick told students during the informational meeting.
The next informational meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., and club officer positions will be determined later.
