Twelve schools participated in the Kapolei Marching Band Festival hosted by Kapolei High School this past Saturday, Nov. 1, at 8:30 PM.
The winner of the Single A Division was Waipahu High School. Roosevelt High School won the Double A Division, and Mililani High School took first place in the Triple A Division.
Aiea, Castle, Iolani, and Waipahu High Schools competed in the Single A Division. Kailua, McKinley, Radford, and Roosevelt high schools were in the Double A Division. Kalani, Mililani, Pearl City, and Kamehameha high schools competed in the Triple A Division.
“Mililani always works hard, and they deserve it,” Kalani music teacher Rory Ochi Onishi says.
The Kalani Marching Band’s Low Brass Section Leader, Micah Djios (11), says the other schools are better than them because they had a few people bringing them down.
“I had a lot of fun; we could’ve done better, but it is what it is,” Djios says.
