Winner Kathy Tosh’s “Work With What You’ve Got” wreath won the overall “Best in Show” prize, receiving the 2019 Mayor’s Holly Award of $200. Part of Honolulu’s 2019 City Lights, the 34th Annual Holiday Wreath Contest is held in the Lane Gallery of Honolulu Hale, Downtown. Displayed from Dec. 7 - 31, the contest awarded winners with prize money ranging from $25-$200. Divisions included Adult, Youth, and this year’s “Holiday Hale” Theme Category. In Kaimuki, a community art project run by streetARThawaii is painting murals over thirteen traffic signal boxes commonly targeted for graffiti. The colorfully painted boxes appear along Waialae Avenue from 17th Avenue to 8th Avenue and from Koko Head and Harding to 7th and Harding Avenues. Many of the artists involved live in the area.
