Students walk down the hall between C and D Buildings at Kalani High School. The campus is painted in the school colors, red and white. Kalani embodies a diverse group of students and provides a variety of opportunities. In each classroom, there is a teacher to provide a learning environment to help students succeed academically and prepare them for the real world.

At Kalani High School, there are many trash cans in the hallways for students to use. Although trash cans are made for students to throw away their garbage, some tend to litter on the campus. “The amount of litter in our school is crazy,” Sunwoo Oh (12) explained. In addition, there is too much garbage in the corners of buildings, and small ditches of the campus. Littering in schools and also in society harms the environment, and destroys the beauty of everyday life. Students need to be aware of the littering problem and find a way to efficiently solve it. For example, pick up after yourself. Photo & text by Eun Ho Kim 2019.

Every day I wake at 5 a.m., eager to get to school and see my friends. I could just not go to school and either go to Ala Moana or the beach or even another friend’s house. But seeing the empty halls before a very busy day of school creates a drive and passion in me and I can’t wait to conquer life’s greatest challenges! Photo by Dylan Shugart 2017.
