Riki Watanabe (12) gets his temperature checked before his swim club practice. Once his temperature is checked, he is asked daily questions including if he is feeling well, does he have a sore throat, and has he been in contact with someone with COVID. If he answers no to all, he is allowed to swim. Every swimmer in Sun-Shine Aquatics has to follow the mandatory temperature check, sign in, and mask mandate until in the water. Athletes Struggle to Get Noticed During COVID

Natalie (Anela) Rea (11) co-president of the Laulea Club is individually packing candy bags to help stop the spread of germs. With COVID-19 still affecting club meetings, members of Laulea have to make sure to follow the necessary precautions for snacks and in-person activities. The individually bagged candies will be distributed among students to enjoy at home. During meetings, students have to wear their masks at all times, sign in, and sit in their assigned spot to have a clear tracking system. Photo and caption by Lin Meyers.

Kalanis Varsity swim and diving team wait at the gate in the Hawaiian terminal at Honolulu International Airport for their Thursday, Feb. 13 morning flight to Maui for the Swimming & Diving Hawaii State Championship meet this weekend. The Kalani Girls team won the OIA Championships on Jan. 25, unseating Kaiser and ending their rivals decade-long reign.
